Neighbourhood
Matosinhos is a very old and authentic city, with hard working and friendly people, good food and lots of beautiful places. You are now staying in Matosinhos Sul, the most recent part of town with modern facilities but, not to long ago, most fish factories were located in this area and canned fish was prepared and sent to every corner of the world. Friendly and cozy, Matosinhos has everything just a short walk away as you will experience. Matosinhos has a long history dating as far back as the Paleolithic era, Bronze Era, the Roman empire, and on the 12th century is established as "Vila de Matesinum". Many monasteries have established their ground in this area and with time a profound link between to catholic church was built. Its location, so close to sea, made it only natural that many should become fisherman, the "easy" access to land made it the most important port in the north of Portugal and a modern port was built in the 20th century. The city of Matosinhos, pays tribute to its patron - a saint - Senhor de Matosinhos in a local festivity in the end of May until the beginning of June. Our apartment is close, yet far enough from the center of the festivities, not to be affected by the celebrations.

About
A friendly and cozy 4th (top) floor property, located in a quiet neighbourhood just across from the Museum of Architecture in the city of Matosinhos. Shops, restaurants and cafés are just a short walk away. Metro and bus stops one block away. Matosinhos offers you the comfort and the facilities of a big city in a friendly size. Everything is still very local and authentic.
Space
The property is located in Matosinhos Sul, the most recent and modern part of town. Served by a variety of cafés, restaurants, take aways and grocery shops that are literally just around the corner. There are 3 bedrooms in total and all have queen size beds and big wardrobes. All bedrooms face away from the street and onto a landscaped area at the back of the common area of the building. One of the rooms is an on suite room with private bathroom. A second fully equipped bathroom in the bedroom area serves bedroom number 2 and 3. Both bathrooms have bathtub with shower, toilet, sink and bidé. A third bathroom with toilet and sink serves the living room area. The property has a nice and wide living room area, with sofa and two maples, a flat screen TV, cable TV and wireless internet, many boardroom games and a dining area prepared for 6 people. Wide glass windows take you out to the small varanda facing a quiet street. The kitchen is spacious and is fully equipped with ceramic hob, fan assisted electric oven, all the utensils you could possibly need for a dinner party, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and a large microwave.

The apartment has a cot. The cost is €25 per stay. There is a €25 charge for late check-in between 10:00 p.m. and midnight, and €35 for arrivals between midnight and 2:00 a.m. In the beginning of May, all university students celebrate the end of the school year in a celebration called Queima das Fitas, during this week a lot of concerts will take place and music may be heard. If you like a bargain this is the week to stay at our apartment as you will most probably hear the concerts for free. At the end of May and the beginning of June celebrations for the local patron - Sr. de Matosinhos will take place near the city hall and during the approximately three weeks of festivities the city is very much alive. In addition to the traditional stalls selling crockery, crafts, food, drinks, and entertainment, the streets have decorative lighting, music bands, folklore groups, or ethnographic groups playing. This is a local festivity that has been taking place for 700 years. Noise should not affect our apartment as whilst we are close to the center of the festivities we are far enough away not to be disturbed by the noise. To ensure compliance with Portuguese law with the declaration of foreigners at the border police SEF, this establishment requires Online Check-in through its own channel, which may ask the tourist for an image of the identity document and/or a photograph. Personal data will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament. In this sense, the necessary measures will be taken to avoid alteration, loss, treatment, or unhauthorized access.
