Neighbourhood
Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, stretching along the hillside between São Jorge Castle and the Tagus River. Its name derives from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning fountains or baths. The district includes the parishes of São Miguel, Santo Estêvão, São Vicente de Fora, and parts of two streets in the Sé parish: Rua do Barão and Rua São João da Praça. The area is home to several important historical landmarks, as well as many Fado bars and restaurants. The great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755 did not destroy Alfama, which has remained a picturesque labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. In recent years, the neighborhood has been revitalized through the renovation of old houses and the opening of new restaurants, where visitors can enjoy Fado, the traditional melancholic Portuguese music.

About
A home in the heart of Alfama. This is a typical, old house in one of the most historical neighbourhoods of Lisbon. A duplex property with plenty of space for a family. The property has two spacious bedrooms, one bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. Very conveniently located to visit all the sites in Lisbon as most are within walking distance, namely the Castle and the Cathedral.

In a traditional building in Alfama with great views you have this apartment that is perfect for a visiting family. The apartment has 2 spacious rooms with double beds and sofa bed in the living room. The main bedroom has a balcony with great views over Alfama and you can also see the River Tagus. The bathroom is functional. There's a storage-tank water heater, a bath with shower, a sink and toilet. Hairdryer is available. The living room is spacious and there is a dining / working table and also TV with cable channels.

To reach the property you have to climb some flights of stairs. Please note that this property is in the heart of Alfama. DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE Lisbon celebrates with street parties in Alfama. These last until 2 am from Wednesdays to Sundays and the streets are filled with stalls selling Grilled Sardines, sangria, wine & beer. In the last two weeks of May there is some noise on the street due to the construction of the stalls during work hours. If you like a good street party you could not be in a better location. If you are looking for a quiet holiday this is not the place to stay during the month of June. To ensure compliance with Portuguese law with the declaration of foreigners at the border police SEF, this establishment requires Online Check-in through its own channel, which may ask the tourist for an image of the identity document and/or a photograph.
